Mentor Summit 2017: Mentoring Wisdom
Everyone wants wisdom. Even if we don’t want it, we need it. Wisdom helps us help ourselves and help others. It helps us on offense and defense . . . to know how to ‘win’ in life and how to protect ourselves from losing. Some folks say wisdom comes from experience but that’s only partially true. It comes from examined experience, i.e. from taking a hard look at what we’ve done and letting our past inform us about what worked and what didn’t. There’s a ‘multiplier effect’ when we seek wisdom from others’ experience as well as from our own. A lot of what makes a mentor invaluable is that he makes his experience and wisdom available to his mentees.
But there’s another side to the equation. The mentee has to want wisdom and be ready to receive it. There has to be a high-trust relationship for a younger guy to know it’s safe to ask his mentor what he thinks. Those high-trust relationships are ‘gold’ but hard to develop. It takes time . . . focused time . . . and intentionality.
Radical Mentoring’s whole existence as a ‘mentor to mentors’ and their churches is about sharing mentoring wisdom. Through this blog, through books like Mentor Like Jesus and What Radical Husbands Do and through our annual conference, Mentor Summit.
This year’s conference is coming up, April 21-23 and we couldn’t be more excited. Here’s who’s speaking and a few details:
John Lynch – author of Bo’s Café, the book we recommend each mentoring group begin with. John will teach us about forming and building high-trust relationships that allow wisdom to be received.
Nate Larkin – author of Samson and the Pirate Monks. Nate will tell us his story and teach us how connecting with other guys can (literally) save our lives.
Reggie Joiner – co-founder of North Point Community Church, founder and CEO of Orange, and author of A New Kind of Leader. Reggie will teach us about ‘showing up’ for mentees and developing empathy as fathers, parents and leaders.
Randy Ross – co-author of Remarkable! and CEO (Chief Enthusiasm Officer) of Remarkable! A “craftsman of culture and a catalytic coach,” Randy will teach us how to develop and share wisdom at work.
Chad Moore – Lead Pastor of The Church at LifePark outside Charleston, SC. Chad will teach us the power of transparency and how even a high-profile pastor of a successful church be transparent.
Larry Green – founder of Cloudwalk and co-founder of Souly Business. Larry will teach us how to listen to wisdom from God and how to allow Him to lead us as we mentor.
Robby Angle – Director of Men’s Groups at North Point Community Church. Robby will teach us how he launched men’s mentoring small groups that have helped men become fully alive in Christ and created prepared, committed leaders for his and other churches.
Regi Campbell – founder of Radical Mentoring and author of Mentor Like Jesus. Regi will teach us how the embodiment of Jesus in us unleashes the wisdom from us into the lives of others for Him.
Todd Fields – Director of Worship Leader Development at North Point Community Church and founder of Worship Circle (a mentoring process for worship leaders) will lead us into the throne room with heartfelt worship of our Lord.

Scripture: Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come. (Psalm 71:18)
Mentor Tip: Disciples are learners and followers of Christ. Mentors are disciple-makers . . . they not only learn for their own benefit but learn so they pour what they’ve learned into those who are coming behind them. Take advantage of Mentor Summit 2017 so you can be even better at helping your guys follow Jesus.
