A Fragrance of Christ
We knew this day would come. It comes for everyone. The day I had my last coffee with my friend Regina was the day they’d put in the port for her chemotherapy. Last Sunday at 11:44 am . . .when thousands of pastors were preaching the Gospel in churches all over the world, this dear woman was finishing the ‘sermon’ of her life. She ‘preached’ a good one. With her family at her side, she crossed over from this life to the next and joined the ongoing celebration in Heaven.
Regina Williams mentored women for years and years. Her discipline, honesty, and courage were legendary. When she was introduced to small group mentoring, she grabbed hold and ran with it. She never abandoned the individuals she’d invested in, but she saw the leverage of mentoring in groups and launched into it full bore. Over the years, she created the mentoring system, Titus 2 Mentoring Women that is now used by women in churches all over. Here’s Regina’s last blog post. You can hear her heart in the words…
Mentoring . . . it’s a word used in so many contexts. What we’re calling women to do through Titus2 Mentoring Women is to walk alongside younger women, encourage them, be available to them, and challenge them to grow in all of their relationships, especially their relationship with Christ.
As one Titus2 Mentor said, “Mentoring is a lot about loving and making yourself available to these women. It’s not about what you’re going to teach them – God teaches them. You provide a home and a safe place for them to grow and share. You encourage and challenge them. They want an older woman to ‘pour into’ their lives. They are inviting you into their lives.”
It’s not about what you know! It is about Who you know and what the Lord has taught you in your years of walking with Him in the different seasons of life. As you make yourself available to younger women, you’ll find God using you in ways unimaginable!
“But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place. For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing; to the one an aroma from death to death, to the other an aroma from life to life.” 2 Corinthians 2:14-16
May you be the fragrance of Christ to the next generation!
Regina
There’s the challenge. Will you make yourself available? Will we be the fragrance of Christ to our spouses? Children? Coworkers? Neighbors? To those we mentor? To everyone we meet?
For the women who read these posts to the wives of the men who read them, nothing would be more honoring to our Lord or to Regina than for you to do what she suggested . . . “to walk alongside younger women, encourage them, be available to them, and challenge them to grow in all their relationships, especially their relationship with Christ.” You can find out more about how by visiting titus2mentoringwomen.com.
If God has touched your life through Regina or Titus2 and you’d like to pay it forward . . . to help encourage and equip more mentors for women, you may donate to a special fund that’s been established in Regina’s honor at the National Christian Foundation by clicking here.
