Why Your Church Needs Radical Mentors
Your church needs Radical mentors now more than ever. While Sunday sermons and small groups are vital, following Jesus is about more than just gathering inside a church building. It’s about how we live every day, in relationship with others, deeply rooted in our faith.
Many churches offer spaces throughout the week where people can connect to God’s Word and each other—through Bible studies, small groups, or young adult services. These are beautiful, powerful tools for spiritual growth. But they often fall short of what Jesus modeled.
He didn’t just preach and perform miracles—He invited a small group of men to walk with Him. His disciples didn’t merely hear the message; they experienced life alongside their Rabbi. In doing so, they not only grew closer to Jesus, but to each other. They became a family.
Jesus’s invitation is just as radical today: “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” (Matthew 16:24) This kind of discipleship requires more than attendance—it demands sacrifice, commitment, and intentionality. And the journey isn’t meant to be walked alone.
Why Radical Mentoring?
Even within the church, it’s easy for people to feel disconnected. They can sit through studies, participate in discussions, and still leave feeling unknown and unseen. Often, they walk away more overwhelmed, anxious, and lonely.
The truth is, people are longing for:
- Authentic connection and community
- Someone to follow and learn from
- A safe place to grow and flourish
Radical Mentoring exists to meet those needs. We believe real transformation happens in relationships—specifically, mentoring relationships where a mentor who is just a few steps ahead walks alongside a group of mentees. These intentional, season-long groups create safe, authentic spaces where people can have meaningful conversations about faith, life, and purpose.
Our mission is to help churches foster authentic relationships, deepen spiritual maturity, and cultivate purpose—all through the power of intentional mentoring.
How Does It Work?
Radical Mentoring equips churches to develop intentional mentoring groups by following three simple steps:
1. Equip Your Mentor
Start by identifying a mentor—someone spiritually mature and trusted. We’ll walk alongside them to get trained in our proven mentoring process and share resources to help them succeed.
2. Build Your Group
Once trained, mentors handpick 4–8 mentees (men or women depending on the track), and invite them into a 9–12-month mentoring journey. Each month, mentees engage with a book, complete a homework assignment, memorize Scripture, and gather as a group to reflect and grow together.
3. Watch God Work
As groups meet and do life together, walls come down and real transformation happens. Mentees gain clarity, direction, and deep spiritual growth. Mentors often find themselves changed as well, reignited in their own faith as they pour into others.
The Impact on Your Church
Your church needs Radical mentors because this simple process leads to extraordinary transformation. As mentees grow into disciple-makers, the church begins to shift—from passive attendance to intentional discipleship, from shallow relationships to meaningful, life-giving connections. You’ll see your church culture change as spiritual growth spreads and community deepens, all rooted in the way Jesus made disciples.
