We’re looking for books that have practical, actionable takeaways. Not books heavy on theology or theoretical ideas or ones likely to cause unnecessary debate. Those type of books are important but aren’t the best for mentoring groups. We want books mentees can read relatively easily in a month and can engage with without having an advanced degree.

Beyond that, the books we recommend have all been vetted and used in mentoring groups over the years . . . we recommend them because we know they work. 

If you want to substitute books, keeping the criteria above in mind, think about the books you’ve read that have impacted you and your walk with God. Those will probably make great picks.
