Why in-person mentor training gives mentors confidence and clarity
Leading a mentoring group shouldn’t feel like guesswork. That’s why our in-person mentor training equips mentors with the confidence, practical tools, and real-life insight they need to launch with clarity and to lead well.
Earlier this year, our team had the opportunity to spend time with the staff and mentors at Passion City Church as they prepared to launch their first season of Radical Mentoring. Together, we walked through the mentoring process, shared best practices, and discussed what it looks like to create an environment where men can experience purpose and belonging.
We also focused on the practical side of launching a mentoring group. We talked through recruiting, building healthy groups, setting clear expectations, and why choosing the right mentees during that first season matters so much.
A strong first season doesn’t happen by accident. The mentors you invite to lead that first group help shape the culture and momentum of the ministry, which is why investing in mentors before they launch is so important.
Confidence comes from real experience
One of the mentors who attended the training shared that what stood out most wasn’t just the content. It was how openly our team shared both the victories and the challenges of leading mentoring groups.
He was also encouraged by hearing from men who had completed Radical Mentoring. Their stories helped him see the lasting impact of the process and why so many described it as unlike anything they had experienced before.
Another takeaway was the role discipline plays throughout the mentoring journey. The process is intentional, and that commitment to consistent spiritual habits is what helps produce lasting growth.
As he reflected on the training, one comment perfectly captured why the experience was so valuable:
“They knew our questions before we asked them.”
That’s what makes gathering in person so impactful. Mentors aren’t just learning a process. They’re gaining practical wisdom, asking real questions, and building the confidence to lead well.
Choose the training that fits your church
We know every church is different, which is why we offer multiple training options. We offer on-demand video training (free), live webinars (free), and in-person mentor training (travel expenses for the team plus an honorarium), giving every church a way to prepare that fits their schedule and needs.
No matter which option you choose, our goal is the same: to help you lead with confidence and clarity. When mentors are equipped well, they’re free to spend less time wondering what to do next and more time investing in the men God has entrusted to them.
